Dr. Randal L. Walker

Randy is the Director for the Marine Extension Service overseeing all applied research, education and outreach programs. His current interests lie in marine aquaculture, marine shellfisheries management, invasive species, shellfish population dynamics, shellfish pathology, shellfish reproduction, and habitat restoration.


Dr. Alan Power

Alan is the director of the Shellfish Research Laboratory. His current interests lie in shellfish aquaculture, fisheries management, invasive species, shellfish pathology, environmental impact asessments and habitat restoration.

Thomas Bliss

Tom is a public service assistant that implements research and outreach programs relating to estuarine ecology, fisheries management, invasive species and population dynamics.
Courtney Walz

Courtney is a research technician whose work focuses on fisheries research. She is also responsible for our histology laboratory and for providing terrapin excluders for recreational crab traps.
Patrick Swearingen

Patrick is a research technician working on a project to determine the best method for growing single oysters and to evaluate the economic feasibility of an aquaculture oyster industry in Georgiaan. He is responsible for maintaining and monitoring field trials; assisting growers evaluate operations; disseminating findings; and promoting oyster aquaculture.

Brian Corley

Brian is a research technician who is currently conducting a geo-referenced inventory of oyster beds in Chatham County to assist future aquaculture and restoration efforts.

Angela Bliss

Angela coordinates Adopt-A-Wetland, a community-based environmental monitoring program. With adopted sites all along the coast, she stays busy with recruiting and training volunteers and maintaining biological and chemical databases. In addition, Angela is responsible for promoting opportunities to educate the public on non point source pollution and estuarine importance.

Daniel Harris

Daniel is a research technician, and is part of the GEORGIA, oyster restoration team. He is responsible for oyster bagging events, biological monitoring at restoration sites, as well as general public outreach in the Savannah area.

Cassy Davis

Cassy is an administrative assistant and is responsible for all personnal and purchasing paperwork. She also manages the hazardous waste and safety files and performs all equipment inventories.

Casey Sanders

Casey is a research technician, and is part of the GEORGIA, oyster restoration team. She is responsible for oyster bagging events, biological monitoring at restoration sites, as well as general public outreach in the Brunswick area.
